Northern Michigan Native Commerce Team (NMNCT)

Arrowhead Incubator, Inc. formed the NMNCT: a voluntary committee of Tribal and Non-Tribal leadership.  The central goal of this committee is strategically addressing emergent challenges and opportunities within the realm of social and economic development in Northwestern Michigan and the Eastern Upper Peninsula during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are learning and listening to these community leaders on a monthly basis.  As our NMNCT members continue to push through their exhaustion to address deep and urgent needs from their Tribal citizens, communities, small businesses, and non-profits organizations, new opportunities are arising.

Here are the three central objectives of this informal discussion and coordination committee:

• Regularly share current and emerging challenges and opportunities across Native and Non-Native communities in the realm of sustainable development
• Combining relevant, publicly accessible data to gain a better understanding of social and economic development needs both in and outside of Indian Country in Northwestern Michigan and the Eastern Upper Peninsula
• Continue to build up the social and economic resilience of the region through cross-cultural collaboration and partnerships
